SETUP AND EXPLORATION

Step 1: There were two tables with two facilitators each. Each table had a tray which consisted of 16 tempera paint bottles of red, yellow and blue colours, labeled plastic cups, popsicle sticks and cloth.

Step 2: There were two trays which consisted of paint brushes of different sizes, rollers, sponges and squeezy water bottles.

The objective of this activity was for the children to mix primary colours to make new colours, experience a messy sensory play, exercise and strengthen their fine motor skills.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The children came to the tables by themselves after the opening and waited for the activity to begin.

Red poured into yellow… What colour does that make?

Rishit eagerly waits with his cup in hand!

Step 1: Initially, all the children had a brief conversation with the facilitators about their favorite colours and the various colours that they wanted to make. Nitara wanted to make pink colour, Yuvaan(Mehra) wanted to make black colour, Vaanya wanted to make green colour and Rishit wanted to make orange and purple colours. After that, each child was given two tempera paint bottles each, labeled plastic cups and popsicle sticks. By following the instructions given by the facilitator, the children poured colours from the tempera paint bottles and mixed them with the help of popsicle sticks. All the children seemed really engaged in this activity. They also gave different names to the new colours that they had made which was followed by them forming a train and going outside for the second step.

Step 2: When all the children came outside, they took paint brushes of different sizes and rollers to paint on the black wall. They also used the colours that they had made. Shivansh shared his colours with Yuvaan(Bhopalka) and Rishit. Dhriya and Vaanya also shared their colours with each other. All the children looked like they were having fun painting on the black wall. When the activity got over, they cleaned the black wall with the help of squeezy water bottles and sponges.
