Welcome to Day 4 of our ongoing PBL series! Last week, the Arthlings explored their outsides in great detail. This week they begin their exploration of the inner self!
Our Arthlings are at that special age when something very important is taking shape: their identities! Our children are in the process of finding and settling on things that they like, and don’t like. These choices are an essential part of who they are! As they set sail on this inward journey, our Arthlings will begin by navigating these very choices!
PLANNING AND SETUP
The activity was divided into the following steps:
1. Choosing My Likes and Dislikes: Flashcards were prepared in the following categories: fruits, vegetables, colours and animals. They were arranged in trays for the facilitators to use.
2. Recording My Likes and Dislikes: Worksheets were prepared for each of the four categories. Each worksheet was divided into two columns - Like and Dislike. Pencils, crayons, and connector pens were present as writing materials.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Choosing My Likes and Dislikes: The children flocked to Priyanka Didi and Sanmoyee Didi to see what they were holding! Priyanka Didi had pictures of all sorts of animals! She had a tiger, a panda, and a pink elephant! She also had flashcards with different colours on them! The children were eager to point out the ones that they liked!
Sanmoyee Didi had fruits and vegetables. The children showed their approval by raising their hand or with a thumbs up! The vegetables were particularly polarizing; the Arthlings either liked them or hated them!
Recording My Likes and Dislikes: The Arthlings recorded their choices on their sheets, with the help of Auindrilla Didi and Sonai Didi! They chose a variety of colours to draw, or write their likes and dislikes. Yuvaan (Mehra) put a line through all the objects in his Dislike column, to show that they were not allowed!

OUTCOME AND FUTURE
This instalment of our PBL series was a wonderful opportunity for our Arthlings to explore the choices that define them. Each Arthling also chose to record in their own way, through mark-making, drawing and writing.
As the series progresses, stay tuned to read more about the different ways that our Arthlings express their individuality!
