Welcome to Day 11 of our project! The Arthlings will be wrapping up this unit soon, but there is still some emotional exploration left to cover. Read on to know how the Arthlings got their hands dirty…and slimy!
PLANNING AND SETUP
The activity was divided into the following steps:
1. Making My Comfort Slime: Trays were arranged with the ingredients required for making slime: slime glue, activator, food colouring, and plastic jars. Buttons and dot stickers were provided for decoration.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Making My Comfort Slime: The children gathered around their tables and were excited to learn that they were making slime. The educators explained that slime can be used to make people happy, and can cheer someone up when they are sad. The Arthlings worked with the educators to carefully measure out the slime glue and activator; they even counted how many spoons were being added. When the ingredients were mixed together, they magically turned into slime!
The children customized their slime with colours and charms. Adrived used blue food colouring, and exclaimed, “It’s getting super blue!” Dhriya and Hazzel added buttons and butterfly charms to their slime. Yuvaan (Mehra) mixed purple and blue colouring to make a black colour; he also added stickers and a colourful button. When they had finished, the Arthlings stored their creations in colourful jars!

OUTCOME AND FUTURE
Slime is something that is enjoyed by adults and children alike. It can be therapeutic to make and play with. In this class, slime was introduced as a source of comfort that can be used for cheering up, or to bust stress. We hope to encourage our children to look after their emotional wellbeing, using this method and others!
Don’t forget to join us for the last episode of this project, when the children will create their final product to take home!
