Arth lab 🧬 Design thinking

Arth Lab is a transdisciplinary team of individuals who collaborate to bolster arth’s vision of child-led experiential learning across curricula.
The team comes together to brainstorm learning ideas in literacy, mathematics, arts and science, shortlist the ones that meet the criteria, and then materialize them into products that can be used in arth’s classroom and beyond. Below is a snapshot of the process.

We’ve had some amazing humans work with us during the 2 years we’ve been serving childhood in Kolkata. 80% of our present and past team members have been a part of Tier 1 Universities from India and abroad, including the likes of - Harvard University, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIM Bangalore, Jindal Global Law School, BITS Pilani, Bank Street College of Education, Lesley University, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Azim Premji University, Christ University, The EFL University, and FTII. Many of our teammates have, in the past, worked with National Geographic, Fulbright Scholars, Teach For India, Gandhi Fellowship, Pratham, Hindustan Unilever, Amazon Inc, and Kolkata Sanved.

From Kolkata, we’ve had graduates from Loreto College, JDBI, Shri Sikshayatan, Jadavpur University, Calcutta University and iLEAD. 

At arth one of our goals with our teammates is to nurture the leader within them. We are so proud to share that all of our past teammates have gone on to pursue worthy goals in the field of education and human experience with many of them working on their own endeavours like Life Meets the Lens, Sang, Safe Space Studios, etc. 

Who are we looking for?

We think anyone that’s arthen is a kind-hearted human being, curious and passionate about working with children, often a child themselves, especially when with them. We think that is the most fundamental requirement for any role at arth.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with a background in education, creative arts, technology, science, and/or social sciences. We’d love to find someone who has strong passions/hobbies themselves and wants to share them with people, be it art or tech or nature or anything else. We are looking for someone that loves/lives to create. The above tries to describe something close to what we have in mind.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & MINDSETS: In addition to the above, we need someone who is/has:

• Intentional, Mindful and Reflective

• Strong ideas and opinions about education

• Compassionate, fun-loving and friendly

• Conscientiousness, discipline, self-motivation, rigour and a drive to learn and grow.

• Excellent oral communication skills in English and Hindi

• Well versed in using collaboration tools like google workspace

• Hands-on with technology and open to learning/discovering/exploring ways of using tech to make life smoother

LOCATION: The job is based out of Kolkata and is primarily an in-person role.

Job Description

You’ll work alongside other Arth Lab Creators brainstorming and formulating product ideas for children between the ages of 18 months and 8 years. Your specific roles will include:

• Conduct thorough research before designing and developing products.

• Brainstorm product ideas with the other members of the team to meet the learning goals and outcomes on a daily basis.

• Collaborate with other product designers to shortlist and fine-tune ideas.

• Evaluate each product idea on multiple parameters.

• Meticulously document all product ideas and instructional materials to be used by the educators in their classrooms.

• Communicate effectively with the Founder and the team to discuss the progress of each product.

• Be responsible for the security, care, and maintenance of the school’s resources.

WORK HOURS: We have 6 openings for full-time internships. Your work hours will involve a commitment of 8 hours from Monday to Friday beginning from May for the period of at least 1 month.
