SETUP AND OBJECTIVE

There were two tables with two facilitators each. Each table had three trays as there were three activities planned.

Step 1: For the first activity, each table had one tray which consisted of recipe worksheets, connector sketch pens and movie tickets.

Step 2: The second activity was 'Make your masala muri.' For this activity there was again one tray for each table which consisted of muri, chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lemons, bhujia, chaat masala, mustard oil and salt. There were also bowls and spoons kept in the tray.

Step 3: The third activity was for the children to make their drink which was rasna. There was one tray for each table which consisted of small bowls with one spoon of rasna given, water bottles, spoons and glasses.

The objective of this activity was for the children to make masala muri and rasna for the movie time. This activity also helped the children to exercise and strengthen their fine motor skills.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The children came to the tables by themselves and waited for the activity to begin.

Step 1: Initially, the children observed the ingredient flashcards which were stuck on the wall and had a conversation with the facilitators on what they wanted to add in their masala muri. After that, each child was given a recipe worksheet and connector sketch pen. They wrote down their own recipes for masala muri. Rishit wanted to add chopped cucumbers, onions, lemons, bhujia and chaat masala in his masala muri whereas Yuvaan B only wanted to add only bhujia and chaat masala in his masala muri.

All the children seemed really engaged in making their own recipes. When the activity got over, the children helped in the cleanup.

Step 2: The children came to the tables after washing their hands. Each child was given a bowl and a spoon. All the ingredients for the masala muri were kept on the table. By looking at their individual recipes, the children added the ingredients in their bowls with the help of the spoons. Hazzel added muri, chopped cucumbers, lemon, bhujia chaat masala and salt. Yuvaan(Mehra) added all the ingredients whereas Nitara just added muri, chopped cucumbers, onions, lemons, bhujia and chaat masala. After adding all the ingredients, the children mixed it nicely. The facilitator labeled all the bowls and kept them in the tray so that it could be distributed during the movie time.

Step 3: For this activity, each child was given a glass and a spoon. They were also given their individual small bowls of rasna. By following the instructions given by the facilitator, the children poured water in their glasses and then added rasna which was followed by them mixing it nicely with their spoons. The facilitator labeled all the glasses and kept them in the tray to distribute it during the movie time. All the children seemed really excited to enjoy their snack and drink which they made during the movie time. They also helped in the cleanup when both the cooking activities got over.
