Setup and Objective
The setup of the activity was simple. There were two tables with two facilitators. Each facilitator had a tray with themselves which consisted of worksheets that had fingers representing different numbers on one side and different shapes of various numbers on the other side. There were also woollen threads and fevicol.
The objective of this activity was for the children to develop number sense, explore shapes and exercise their counting and fine motor skills.
How it happened
The children came to the table by themselves and waited for the activity to begin. Initially, the facilitator did some ganit charcha with the children where they were shown numbers on the finger. The woollen threads were kept in 3 bowls and placed in the middle of the table. Then, each child was given a worksheet and a fevicol. The children observed the worksheet and exercised their counting skills. They counted the fingers which represented different numbers and the different shapes. After that, they exercised their fine motor skills. They matched the finger with the shape which was of the same number with the help of the woollen thread and fevicol. All the children seemed very engaged and they also helped each other to stick the woollen thread on the worksheet. After the activity got over, the children helped in the cleanup.
