Setup and Objective
There were two tables joined together with one educator conducting the experiment. The educator had four trays with herself. The first tray had coconut oil, mustard oil, food colour and water. The second tray had plastic bottles, gloves and droppers. The last two trays had plastic glasses with labels on them and were attached to the tray with the help of double-sided tape. The objective of this activity was for the children to perform a science experiment by themselves, collaborate with each other and strengthen their team building and fine motor skills.
How it happened
The children came to the table and waited for the activity to begin. Initially, the educator introduced all the contents of the first tray to the children. Then by taking turns, the children took plastic bottles, droppers and tissue papers for themselves. After that, coconut oil, mustard oil, food colour, water and liquid dish soap was poured in the plastic glasses. Then, following the instructions given by the educator, the children poured the different types of liquid from the plastic glasses into the plastic bottles which were given to them with the help of the droppers. All the children seemed really engaged and they made mixtures of various colours. They arranged the bottles which had liquids of various colours and named it 'The rainbow'. After the activity ended, all the children helped to clean up.
