Setup and objective

The setup of this activity was quite simple. There were two tables - table 1 and 2, with two educators and each educator had a tray with themselves which consisted of coloured rice, alphabet cutouts, grapharts, bowls and glasses.

The objective of children from table 1 was to find the alphabets of their names from the coloured rice tray and arrange them. The objective of children from table 2 was to find all the alphabets from A-Z from the coloured rice tray and arrange them in the correct order. This activity helped the children to develop and strengthen their literacy skills, recognize the alphabets and also engage in some sensory play.

How it happened

The children were divided between two teams. They came to their tables by themselves and waited for the activity to begin. Initially, the children played and explored the coloured rice with grapharts. After that, the children in table 1 started finding the alphabets of their names which was followed by them arranging it on the table. At the same time,  the children in table 2 were finding all the alphabets from A-Z which was also followed by them arranging it in the correct order. When the activity got over, the children helped in the cleanup.
