Setup and Objective
The setup of this activity was simple. There were three tables with three different facilitators. Each table had one bowl of boiled corn, chopped onions and tomatoes, lemon, butter, chaat masala, bowls, spoons and lemon squeezer. The objective of this activity was to see whether the children were able to follow instructions, control their impulses and strengthen their motor skills. This activity also aimed at guiding them to socialize and interact with each other.
How it happened
Every child was a part of this activity. They sat at their tables and waited for their table facilitators to start the activity. First, each child took a bowl and a spoon to make their corn chaat. They added boiled corn one by one with their spoons. Then they added chopped onions and tomatoes. They wanted to add lemon next so they used the lemon squeezer (with some help) to squeeze lemon in their mix. They also helped each other to do the same. After that, they wanted to add some butter. They waited for their turn and one by one added butter to their bowls. Then they started to mix all the ingredients with the help of their spoons. Finally it was time to add their favorite ingredient - chaat masala. Everybody added lots and lots of chaat masala and again mixed it in circular motions. And our ‘corn chaat’ was finally ready. Whew. It was time to enjoyed the corn chaat. We also saw them sharing their chaats with their friends. Once the activity was over, they helped in cleaning up their tables with some help from their table facilitators.
